Walking Street Art Tour

Graffiti/Street Art

So a few weeks back I went on a walking street tour. I have wanted to get this post out but life, lack of a computer, Grrr, got in the way. The images I have are simply stunning so I won’t waffle on too long before I show you the stunning gallery of images that I managed to get on this tour.

Two of my friends, Louise and Nazi are really big on street art. they know names and history whilst I just love how it looks. One of the main reasons I love Hackney Wick the art work down there is amazing! So is the art in Shoreditch/Spitalfields where this walking art tour took place. Anyway I digress! This tour was a ‘Free Tour by Foot’ and you pay what you think it is worth.

The tour started off outside Whitechapel Gallery, where we met Gregory all the other people on the tour and after some quick information about where we will be going and a bit about Gregory what we think street art is we were off!

I learned about Robbo and Banksy’s beef which did not end until the untimely passing of Robbo. I heard about impressionism and how it impacted upon some street artists work. That even a fair few street artists have been homeless, which is quite inspiring once you see how many have been able to make successful careers commissioning work.

I also discovered that what most would consider street art could actually be graffiti and that the only difference is that Graffiti is illegal, I.E no license or permission had been sought and the street art is legal. what most people think of as graffiti is most likely tag work and artists ‘bomb’ the city to get there name out. Anyway I won’t share too much more because I highly recommend that you book on and pay what you think this tour is worth.

Just so you know a few names you will encounter on this tour are as follows:

Jimmy C (James Cochran)

Fanakapan (Horror Crew)

Hunto

The Rolling People (BRK and Snoe)

Tizer (id crew)

Mr Cenz (Positive Arts)

Shock-1

Elle

Faith 47

Kyle Hughes Odgers

Gregos

Robbo

Banksy

Dscreet

Cyclops

Tek33

However the main problem is that street art is always changing so don’t go on this tour and EXPECT to see their work as someone else may come along and put their art over the top which is why I am so fortunate to have gotten these images and why I am going to do it again in the future.

Anyway click over to the Gallery for all the beautiful images

Wow there are some really amazing pieces here! I would love to go on a tour like this, will have to see if there is something more local. Especially loving the pop up sustainable village and the smiling faces 🙂

Hopefully there is something closer to where you live that you could get on to. If you can’t perhaps it’s another reason on a list of reasons to go to London? *winky face*
